Meet River:

Hello, and welcome! Looking for a therapist can feel overwhelming, especially if you’re already navigating ADHD, perimenopause, depression, or other challenges. I’m glad you’re here.

I work with adults (18+) experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, relational trauma, or navigating long-term recovery from substance and process addictions. I have a special focus on supporting LGBTQ2IA+ folx (as a queer-identified therapist), women, and neurodivergent clients in working through internalized shame and reclaiming their authentic selves. As a long-time transplant from another country, I also have lived experience with the challenges posed by such cultural adjustments and identity transitions.

My style is holistic and relational, rooted in attachment-based psychodynamic therapy. I integrate talk therapy with somatic practices, mindfulness, and neuroscience-informed tools to support deep, lasting change. I tailor my approach to your evolving needs, drawing from evidence-based therapies to foster growth and healing. Collaboration and client feedback are central to the work—we build trust through authentic, mutual engagement.

Clinical Background:
I’m a Professional Counselor Associate and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor I (CADC I). I earned my M.A. in Professional Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Addictions from Lewis & Clark College and worked in various settings, including integrated medical and mental health clinics and private practice. I’ve co-facilitated DBT and addiction recovery groups and pursued extensive training focused on the intersection of mental health, trauma, and addiction. I bring an ongoing commitment to deepening my clinical work, while also holding awareness of the privileges and oppressions within my intersecting identities.

What to Expect in Therapy:
I aim to create a safe, respectful space where you can share freely and be met with curiosity and care. I offer warmth, guidance, and real engagement—yes, I do talk! Expect a balance of gentle self-compassion and the encouragement to face hard things. We may explore values, strengths, body-based practices, or visualization techniques—whatever supports your healing. Together, we’ll examine what’s been holding you back and build new ways of relating to yourself and others with clarity, confidence, and connection.

I would be honored to walk alongside you on this path of self-discovery and growth.
