Meet Heidi (She/Her):
I believe connecting with oneself is the place from which to connect with others, and the therapeutic relationship can be a safe space to explore your authentic self with curiosity, compassion and attention. I value diversity and inclusivity and am LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC-affirming, de-centering dominant narratives through a culturally responsive lens.
I enjoy supporting adults navigating challenges related to trauma, emotional neglect, attachment wounds, depression, low self-esteem, chronic feelings of emptiness, and those seeking to find meaning and a deeper sense of self. My practice is inclusive and LGBTIA+ and BIPOC-affirming with a culturally responsive lens.
Therapeutic Approach:
My approach is strength-based and trauma-informed, harnessing strategies from Somatic-based Therapies, Psychodynamic Therapy, Compassion-Focused, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, among others. I encourage self-reflection, curious exploration with a nonjudgmental stance, and I welcome your creative practices to be a part of your path toward healing.
Clinical Background:
I received my master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a Certificate in Trauma Counseling from Antioch University New England, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Oregon. My experience has included working with a diverse array of adults across the lifespan struggling with experiences of trauma, depression, loss and grief, anxiety, low self-esteem and identity.
What to Expect in Therapy:
Our journey together will be one of honoring your experiences and adaptations, while co-creating an experience that is exploratory and relational to support your goals in therapy. As your therapist, my style is warm, attuned, collaborative and direct, with a bit of playfulness along the way.
The most important factor influencing whether therapy works is the relationship between therapist and client. Do you feel understood and safe? Do I ‘get’ you? Reaching out for support can feel vulnerable yet leaning into vulnerability can often lead to connection. I welcome the opportunity to connect with you and to answer any questions you may have to explore whether we may be a good fit for one another on the path toward your healing.
